Donovan To Sign ‘Comfort Women’ Proof Monday

Officials released the final wording Wednesday of the proof for a Comfort Women Memorial planned for the Justice Center in Hackensack.

County Executive Kathleen Donovan will sign the final proof Monday of the Comfort Women Memorial to be erected at the Bergen County Justice Center, officials announced.

Freeholder Chairman John Mitchell and members of the Comfort Women Memorial Committee will join Donovan in Hackensack for the signing.

The committee, along with Mitchell and Donovan, held a press conference in mid-October announcing that Bergen County would erect the memorial dedicated to the thousands of “comfort women,” or those from Korea, China and other countries in Asia and Europe who were forced into sexual slavery by Japanese forces during and in the aftermath of World War II.
