Englewood Cliffs' Rob Kaminsky Signs with Cardinals

St. Joseph's ace pitcher will receive $1.78 million signing bonus.

Top New Jersey pitching prospect Rob Kaminsky has spurned North Carolina to turn pro, signing with the St. Louis Cardinals for $1.78 million on Wednesday, according to Baseball America's Jim Callis.

The St. Joseph's Regional ace from Englewood Cliffs was selected with the 28th pick in the 2013 MLB Draft. The lefty with an advanced three-pitch mix features a fastball that tops out at 94 mph along with a biting curveball.

He was the second prep left-hander selected in the draft and was named the Gatorade New Jersey High School Player of the Year two consecutive years.
