Englewood Man Found Dead in Hudson River

City resident was reported missing in early May.

An Englewood man reported missing earlier this month was found dead Sunday in the Hudson River in Manhattan, officials said Wednesday.

Authorities found 25-year-old Curtis Aukshunas near 158th Street after responding to a report of a body in the water, police said.

The New York City Medical Examiner’s Office identified Aukshunas, but the cause of death was not yet determined, an agency spokeswoman said.

An NYPD spokeswoman would only say the death remained under investigation Wednesday afternoon.

Aukshunas was reported missing to Englewood Police May 8 and loved ones launched a social media campaign urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to call police. He was last seen leaving his office in Midtown.

The family notified supporters Wednesday night that Aukshunas' body had been recovered.

"Curtis' family is tremendously grateful to all here who have helped, shared, searched and supported throughout this terrible time," the message stated. "Currently, there are no further details to share about this tragic event. The family asks that you please respect their privacy as they mourn his passing. With deep appreciation, we thank you once again."
