Bergen County Protect & Rescue Foundation, located at 302 2nd St. Cliffside Park, will have the North Shore Animal League Mobile Unit that will house about 30 animals that will be up for adoption.  BC Protect & Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal rescue shelter who supports, Cliffside Park, Edgewater, Fort Lee, Teaneck, Bogota, Fairview, Palisades Park, Elmwood Park, Englewood Cliffs and the GWB PA of NY/NJ.  In addition, BC Protect & Rescue pulls animals from high kill shelters when room is available.  BC Protect & Rescues mission is: to save as many lives as possible without being euthanized, due to lack of a home, space or compassion.  We are here to help educate the public on Humane Education, Humane Enforcement, spay/neuter, and micro-chipping procedures.  BC Protect & Rescue is a place where the public can come for help and have questions answered. This shelter is here to serve public and it needs, saving one life at a time.

In addition, BC Protect & Rescue will host a micro-chipping event, which will help reunite lost pets back to their owners.  For benefits on micro chipping, any dog or cat can be micro-chipped for a special fee of $25.00 at this event regular price is $39.99.   BC Protect & Rescue Foundation along with BC Humane Enforcement chooses to microchip or best known to implant by industry leader HomeAgain Microchips.   HomeAgain maintains a national database, which is available 24/7.  When a pet is enrolled in the system they also receive collar tags to wear with their HomeAgain identification number and toll-free number.   More than 3,784,072 pets are enrolled with the HomeAgain Pet Recovery Service and HomeAgain is responsible for reuniting 329,192 lost pets with their owners.

Collars and tags are essential at all times, however, they tend to fall off. Millions of dogs are lost each year because of this.  Tragically enough few are reunited with their owners.  According to statistics, 90% of lost pets that are not micro-chipped are turned into shelters and adopted out to a new family.  Most, unfortunately are euthanized because lack of room.

A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice that is injected between the dog’s shoulder blades under the skin with a special syringe.  Little to no pain is experienced.  It consists of a tiny computer chip that is compatible with you’re your dogs tissue.  Once in place, the microchip can be detected immediately with a handheld device that uses radio waves to read the chip.  This scanner reads the microchip and then displays an alphanumeric code.  Once the chip is placed, the dog or cat must be registered with the microchip company and then the Humane Enforcement Agency and a veterinarian can track the dog back to the owner if found.  Approximately 8,000 pets a year are returned to their owners because of micro chipping.  Micro chipping is the best way to bring your lost pet home.

Please help, come, adopt and show your support for this special Pet Appreciation Event and help support local businesses.    Together we can all make a difference in the lives of homeless animals.
