'Every Dog Has Their Day' at Splish Splash Doggie Daycare and Salon

Englewood business the first in the area to offer overnight boarding for local pooches.

Whether it's just a simple wash or a place to crash while you're out of town on vacation, Tara Stillman has your dog needs covered.

The Englewood resident and owner of Splish Splash Dog Salon offers a wealth of services for dogs, including daycare, grooming, training, and even pet photography.

Armed with a love for animals and a business plan after college, Stillman opened the 4,000 square foot facility roughly five years ago at 95 West Palisades Avenue. With indoor and outdoor play areas, it's grown gradually.

Unlike many traditional dog kennels or dog hotels, Splish Splash offers an open area for the dogs. Your best friend won't be cooped up in a kennel. Dogs are gradually socialized with the others, based on energy, temperment and the wishes of the owner.

Typically, customers for the doggy daycare are working professionals who prefer that their pets not lounge about on the couch, chewing up furniture. Splish Splash offers daycare on weekdays and weekends (ranging from $8 an hour to $35 per day).

"Right now we're the only business in the area that does overnight boarding," Stillman said.

Rates for overnight boarding start at about $40 a night, though long stays can receive discounted rates. Overnight boarding rates include daytime hours, according to Stillman, a rarity in the dog boarding industry.

"You should bring your dog here because he'll have a good time, he'll socialize, make friends, and get exercise," she said. "This is where every dog has their day."

If your dog is in need of a makeover, they can receive a grooming treatment for $55 and up, depending on size and condition.

Stillman hopes Splish Splash can help the growing diversity of businesses in downtown Englewood.

"I live in Englewood and love the community," she said. "I want to be a part of the revival."

Splish Splash Doggie Day Care & Salon is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They can be reached at 201-568-0009 or on the web.
